The epidemic is like fire and you are its fuel

go away until you all not find nothing to light it up, then it will be extinguished

This was said by Amr ibn al-As when the plague appeared in the year 693

الوباء كالنار وانتم وقودها 

تفرقوا حتى لا تجد ما يشعلها فتنطفىء 

من اقوال عمرو بن العاص عند ظهور الطاعون عام  693
