أجمل ما يمكن أن يقال عن التعاطف والتضامن الإنساني هو: “إذا لم أتمكن من أن أنيركم بنور الأمل، فسوف أقف إلى جانبكم في ظلمة حزنكم”. تعبر هذه العبارة عن الرغبة في الالتصاق بالآخرين في أوقات الشدة، حتى لو كانت قدرتنا على التخفيف من معاناتهم محدودة. التضامن الحقيقي ليس فقط القدرة على إزالة الألم، ولكن أيضًا القدرة على البقاء والتحمل مع الآخرين في أوقات الشدة. ولنتذكر دائما أننا جسد واحد، وأن مصيرنا مرتبط بتضامننا وتعاطفنا مع بعضنا البعض.
